What is School CHOICE Scholarships?

School CHOICE Scholarships (SCS) wanted in 1998 to improve the educational opportunities for the children of low-income families in Jefferson County. Affluent families can choose whatever schools best fit their children's needs and interests but lower income families don't have this same opportunity. Because we believe that all children deserve educational options, SCS awards tuition assistance scholarships to low-income families that are committed to making the best educational choices for their children.

Presently, School CHOICE Scholarships is the only private voucher program Kentucky and is the 16th largest private voucher initiative in the United States. Since 1998, our support has allowed over 1000 low-income children to access quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. 85% of the children in the CHOICE program come from families with annual incomes below $15,000. SCS focuses on funding scholarships for children in grades K through 6 because research has consistently shown that the most important education children receive is during their formative years. The children in the CHOICE program will reap the countless benefits of a strong educational foundation the rest of their lives.
