What is School Choice Scholarships?
School Choice Scholarships was founded on the core principle that quality education is the key to breaking out of the generational cycle of poverty. The opportunity gap directs where kids go to school.

To date, the over 4,000 education scholarships provided by School Choice Scholarships are valued at $7 million dollars investment back in our children and in our community. For the 2012-2013 school year, School Choice has close to 300 children in the program, attending 50 different schools located throughout the Greater Louisville Metro Area.

The mission of School Choice is both simple and powerful: we offer opportunity scholarships to low-income children throughout Louisville’s Metro Area, to attend their family’s quality school of choice from kindergarten through the eighth grade. The vast majority of families in the School Choice program are single parents, raising three children, with average incomes far below $22,000. School Choice focuses on funding low-income children in their primary and middle school years, based on studies showing that students unable to read proficiently by third grade are 4 times more likely to leave school without a diploma, than proficient readers.
